NISSAN QASHQAI

By now you’ll realise that the Nissan QASHQAI hatch isn’t like any other car, so it’s little surprise that it doesn’t look like any other car. Yes it’s a hatch, but it has also taken inspiration from SUVs. The styling is sleek and contemporary, with a sporty rear spoiler and new design 18” on the Ti model. Under the bonnet of the Nissan Qashqai Hatch is a lightweight aluminium 2.0 litre engine delivering 102kW of power and 198Nm of torque. With plenty of power to get around town or the open road, it also offers excellent fuel economy and low CO2 emissions. The engine works in tandem with an Xtronic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). CVT is Nissan’s automatic transmission that offers a near infinite number of gear rations to totally eliminate the shift shock you experience from traditional automatic transmissions. Of course, if you want to take control, you can use the 6-speed M-Mode to shift through the gears yourself.

The Nissan Qashqai has obtained the highest ANCAP occupant safety rating of 5 stars, thanks to a highly sophisticated combination of safety features and systems. A rigid body cell protects the driver and passengers in the case of a collision. An impressive six airbags – dual front, side and curtain – are ready to deploy when necessary. And, to help you avoid dangerous situations in the first place, there are a variety of driving and braking systems to keep you in control. Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) compares the actions of the driver with the current behaviour of the vehicle and selectively brakes individual wheels and manages engine power to keep the car on its intended path. The Traction Control System (TCS) constantly monitors all four wheels and when the system senses one wheel is spinning faster than the others, it automatically reduces engine power and pumps the wheel’s brake to reduce speed and lessen slip. The Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Brake Assist (BA) and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) work together to help you retain control when braking, apply additional braking in an emergency situation and optimise handling by sensing the load conditions of the vehicle.
